From Tel Aviv, Israel, Jonathan is currently a Senior in the BFA Musical Theatre Program at Penn State. As a singer in the Ground Forces Army Band in Israel, poring over YouTube videos of various Tony performances, and watching the few videos of The Book of Mormon available in awe, he quickly decided to abandon his previous endeavors of becoming a medical doctor, and pursue Musical Theatre at the place of its birth: the United States! He hopes the journey into the professional world will bring with it the opportunities to take part in authentic, inquisitive, and beautiful theatre.
During his years at Penn State, Jonathan took part in 110 in the Shade (U.S. Noah/File/HC), Be More Chill (Jeremy’s Dad/Mr. Reyes), American Idiot (Ensemble), Kiss of the Spider Woman (Marcos), Argonautika (Typhus, Amycus), and Clybourne Park (Jim, Tom/Kenneth).
Prior to arriving at Penn State, he performed across Israel with the Ground Forces Army Band. These included performances for soldiers in the field, officer ceremonies, and shows for the Prime Minister and President of Israel. For three years (over 300 performances), Jonathan toured Israel in its entirety, and gained unparalleled performance experience from interacting directly with diverse communities throughout the nation.
His greatest passion, apart from his art, is sailing. Israel, whose shores are known worldwide for their beauty, supports many marinas and sailing clubs. In addition to competitions on catamarans, Jonathan was an active member of the Tel Aviv Sea Scouts, and headed their band during his high school days.
Other than that, video games, skiing, trekking, and Lego building are his favorite pass times.
